For most of our history, we humans have been victims of nature — disease, famine, the elements. Today, we're also victims of our own ingenuity.

"Forever chemicals" (PFAS) circulate in the blood of 98% of Americans. Microplastics turn up in human lungs, arteries, even placentas. Pesticides banned fifty years ago still linger in most of us. This chemical load has been linked to cancer, infertility, developmental harm, and more. And until very recently, the honest medical answer to "How do I get rid of my body's chronic pollution?" has been simple: "You can't."

We built Tare Health to change that. Tare is the first company dedicated to physician-directed clearance of pollutants from the human body. We've started with PFAS because that's where the data are strongest and the need greatest. We're from Massachusetts and North Carolina, two of the states hit hardest by PFAS. Tare exists because we think everyone should be able to access what we'd want for our own families.

Here's what that looks like. A simple at-home test measures your PFAS. A physician reviews your test and, if it's right for you, prescribes a well-studied medicine to clear it. A few months later you test again and see exactly how far your levels dropped. Unlike some "detox-and-hope" companies, we believe in doing things the right way. These associations above largely come from human epidemiological research (statistical patterns in population studies of PFAS exposure). For some compounds, the evidence shows causation, not just correlation: an agency of the World Health Organization has classified PFOA as carcinogenic to humans, and PFOS as possibly carcinogenic. However, whether reducing PFAS blood levels lowers the risk of any specific condition has not been established in clinical trials and remains under active study. What research has addressed is where PFAS goes in the body, why they persist, and how they can be cleared.

Over the past few years, researchers have identified prescription medications that interrupt this PFAS recirculation pathway. In the studies referenced below, these medications appear to bind PFAS in the gastrointestinal tract, so that PFAS pass out of the body in stool rather than being reabsorbed into the bloodstream.

What makes Tare unique?

Tare is a one-stop service for clinical-grade PFAS reduction. We ship the tests, connect you with licensed physicians, arrange treatment if prescribed, and help you retest at the end so you can see what actually changed. PFAS is a serious problem, but we exist so you don't have to face it alone.

What sets us apart is that we treat pollution as a medical problem rather than a wellness one. Any treatment your physician prescribes is a real prescription, not a wellness supplement. These medications have been studied in published human trials for accelerating PFAS clearance, and they carry decades of safety data from established clinical use. Is my treatment safe?

In published clinical trials, certain prescription medications have been shown to accelerate PFAS clearance (see The Science). These medications have a well-established safety profile from 20+ years of clinical use.

A key safety feature: they work locally in your gut and aren't absorbed into your bloodstream. Unlike most prescription drugs, these don't reach your liver, heart, or other organs, so there's very low risk of overdose or abuse.

If your labs and history suggest treatment is appropriate, your physician independently decides whether to prescribe.

Is my treatment FDA-approved for PFAS reduction?

No prescription medication is currently FDA-approved specifically for PFAS reduction. Off-label prescribing (using an FDA-approved medication for a purpose other than its approved indication) is a legal and standard part of clinical medicine. Any prescribing decisions for your care are made by your physician based on published evidence and their independent clinical judgment. Your physician will discuss any specifics with you during your consultation.

How does medication remove PFAS from my body?

It normally takes years (or even decades) to eliminate forever chemicals because your body keeps accidentally recycling them. In published clinical trials, certain prescription medications have been shown to break this recycling loop. Like a magnet, these drugs bind tightly to PFAS molecules as they pass through your gut, so rather than being reabsorbed back into your bloodstream, PFAS exit your body in stool. Studies show that over months of consistent use, PFAS levels can steadily decline.

How much PFAS reduction can I expect? How long does it take?

Published research suggests medication can produce substantial reductions in blood PFAS levels over 3 to 6 months of consistent treatment. Individual results depend on your starting PFAS levels, ongoing exposure, and medication adherence.

We retest your PFAS levels after three months of treatment to verify your reduction, with the option to continue as desired and clinically warranted. You receive both your pre- and post-treatment lab results.

Can I continue past three months of treatment?

Your physician will discuss options with you. Some people are finished after three months. Others choose to continue treatment to further reduce their levels, or to keep clearing PFAS as new exposure arrives. The right answer is specific to you.

Will my PFAS levels go back up after I stop?

They can. Tare is designed to remove the PFAS already in your body, not to stop new PFAS from arriving. If you're still being exposed via contaminated drinking water or an occupational source, your levels can climb again over time, though from a lower starting point than before. If you've reduced new intake and exposure was largely historical, your post-treatment levels are likelier to hold.

Will this reduce my risk of PFAS-associated health conditions?

Published studies show that certain medications can reduce blood PFAS levels. Whether reducing those levels leads to lower risk of specific health conditions has not been established in clinical trials. Our service focuses on measuring and reducing PFAS levels; the longer-term health implications of that reduction are an active area of research.

What side effects should I expect?

The prescription medications studied for PFAS reduction are generally well tolerated. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal, such as constipation, gas, or bloating. These typically resolve within the first few weeks. To maximize your comfort, free side effect support is included with every prescription.

Is this compatible with my existing medications?

Yes, but timing matters. During your initial consult, your physician will ask about your current prescriptions and supplements, and if you're a good candidate for PFAS remediation, they'll help design a dosing schedule that fits your routine.

Is this safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

The Tare program isn't currently available to people who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you become pregnant during treatment, contact your physician immediately to discuss whether to pause or discontinue. If you're interested in our service after you're no longer expecting or nursing, please stay in touch.

Are minors eligible?

Tare is available only to patients 18 or older. If you're under 18 and concerned about PFAS exposure, please talk with your parent/guardian or doctor.

How does the Tare Guarantee work?

If you complete the full three-month course and your retest after three months of treatment does not show lower PFAS levels than your baseline, we refund your three months of treatment payments in full. There is no percentage threshold and no adherence fine print: any decline is your result; no decline is our refund.

One honest caveat: if you have documented ongoing high exposure, such as an active occupational source or an unaddressed contaminated water supply, reduction during treatment may be more difficult. You can assess your PFAS exposure via our free estimator.

Is Tare available in my state?

Almost certainly. Tare connects you with independent physicians licensed across the United States. We're not yet available in New York, but we can support your care everywhere else. The eligibility check at signup confirms availability in your state before you pay anything.

Can I use Tare outside the United States?

Not yet. Our physicians are licensed in the U.S., and we can only ship test kits and prescriptions to U.S. addresses. That means you need to be in the United States to use Tare, even if you're a U.S. citizen living abroad. If you'd like to hear from us when that changes, email hello@tare.health.

Do I need a PFAS blood test before starting?

Yes, a baseline PFAS test is required. It confirms your actual PFAS levels and gives you a starting number to measure your progress against. If you don't have a recent test, we order one through our partner labs as part of your onboarding.

We realize this adds a step before treatment, but objective measurement is what makes us a science-forward service, not a pill mill.

How do I interpret my test results?

Your results come with full context. You receive your raw PFAS values for each measured compound shown alongside published reference ranges, so you can see exactly where your individual levels fall against clinical benchmarks.

You also receive a personalized Tare Score™, an aggregate index that summarizes your individual PFAS values into a single number you can track over the course of treatment.

If you choose to proceed, your physician will walk you through your results and answer any questions you might have.

How does the telehealth model work?

Everything is done from the comfort of home. You'll have a consultation with a licensed physician to review your test results, medical history, and exposure profile. Thereafter, your physician may prescribe medication. If they do, your prescription is delivered directly to your home. During your treatment course, you can check in with your physician at any time.

Our partner physicians practice through an independent medical group and are paid for their clinical expertise, not per prescription. If a physician determines treatment isn't the right fit, they're compensated the same regardless. Their job is to give you the right recommendation, not a particular one.

Is this covered by insurance?

Not right now. PFAS reduction isn't a recognized billing indication, and most plans don't cover off-label treatments. Our program is currently cash-pay, with transparent pricing and no hidden fees.

Can I get reimbursed by my FSA/HSA?

Most plans reimburse prescription medications, telehealth consultations, and lab testing under FSA and HSA rules, though eligibility depends on your specific plan's terms and how the expense is characterized. Because these are pre-tax dollars, this can mean savings of ~30% for some people.

How the visit works

  • A live, two-way video consult with a physician licensed in your state. Your identity is verified at the start.
  • Follow-up happens by secure message in your portal, which is part of your medical record.
  • Your record is held by the medical group under HIPAA, not by Tare Health.

Limits you should weigh

  • No physical examination is performed. Some things a physician would catch in person cannot be assessed over video.
  • Your physician relies on the lab results and the history you provide. Incomplete information can lead to a worse decision.
  • Technology can fail mid-visit. If it does, your physician will call you and the visit will be rescheduled at no charge.
  • In-person care remains available to you and may be the better choice. You are free to take these results to your own doctor instead.

Who is treating you, and who is not

Tare Health does not practice medicine and does not prescribe. Tare is a technology and administrative company. It arranges lab testing, builds the software, and handles billing and logistics.

Your physician practices through [Partner Medical Group, P.C.], an independent medical group. That physician alone decides whether treatment is appropriate for you.

What that means in practice

  • No one at Tare can overrule, influence, or review your physician’s clinical judgment.
  • Your physician is not paid more for prescribing than for declining, and no part of anyone’s compensation depends on how many prescriptions are written.
  • Your physician may decline to treat you, may recommend something other than medication, or may refer you elsewhere.
  • A prescription is not a product you can purchase. If your physician declines to prescribe, your payment is refunded.

About the medication

The medication your physician may consider is a bile acid sequestrant — most often colesevelam hydrochloride. It is FDA-approved, but it is not FDA-approved for reducing PFAS.

Using it for that purpose is off-label. Off-label prescribing is legal and routine in clinical medicine, and here it rests on published human trials showing accelerated PFAS clearance. It is still a judgment your physician makes for you specifically, and they will go through the trade-offs during your consult.

Commonly reported effects

Constipation, bloating, gas, nausea, and indigestion, most often in the first few weeks. Less commonly it can raise triglycerides, which is why your physician screens your lipids before prescribing. It can also reduce absorption of other oral medications and of fat-soluble vitamins.

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Notice for Tare Health Technologies Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") describes how and why we collect, store, use, and share ("process") your information when you use our services ("Services"), such as when you visit our website at tare.health or join our waitlist. Our Services are not yet open to customers, and this notice covers only the pre-launch website. Reading it should tell you what we collect and what we do with it. 1. What information do we collect?

In Short: We collect the information you enter into our waitlist form, and basic technical data collected automatically when you visit.

Personal information you disclose to us

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you join our waitlist or otherwise contact us. The personal information we collect includes the following:

  • email addresses
  • the US state in which you live
  • your answer to "What brings you here?", which may indicate a known or occupational exposure or that you hold prior test results
  • your answer about your level of interest in the program
  • a record that you agreed to our Terms and this Privacy Notice, and the date and time you did so

We do not ask for your name, mailing address, phone number, date of birth, or any payment information. We do not collect passwords, because there are no accounts.

Payment Data. We do not collect payment data. Nothing on the Services is for sale, and joining the waitlist is free.

Sensitive Information. We do not ask for health records, test results, or clinical history. Your answer to "What brings you here?" may relate to your exposure history, and we treat it with the same care as the rest of your information. Please do not send us details of your health conditions.

Information automatically collected

Some information — such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address and browser characteristics — is collected automatically when you visit the Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity but is recorded in the logs of our website host and our form provider. It includes IP address, browser type, device characteristics, referring URL, and the date and time of your visit. We use it to keep the Services running and secure, and we do not use it to identify you.

Information the exposure estimator does not send us

The PFAS exposure quiz on our website runs entirely in your browser. Your answers and your result are not transmitted to us and are not stored outside your device. If you close the tab, they are gone. If you join the waitlist afterwards, only the form fields listed above are sent to us — your quiz answers and score are not included.

2. How do we process your information?

In Short: We process your information to tell you when we launch, to decide where to launch first, and to keep a record of your consent.

We process your personal information for the following reasons:

  • To contact you about the launch. We process your email address to let you know when enrollment opens.
  • To plan where we operate. We process the state you live in to decide which states to open in first, and to tell you when we can serve yours.
  • To understand demand. We process your answers about your exposure and your interest to gauge how many people want the program and why.
  • To keep a record of consent. We retain a record that you accepted our Terms and this Privacy Notice, and when.
  • To comply with our legal obligations. We may process your information where necessary to respond to legal requests or to establish or defend legal claims.

We do not use your information for any other purpose. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.

3. When and with whom do we share your personal information?

In Short: We share your information with two service providers who help us run the website and receive form submissions. We do not sell it.

We may share your data with third-party vendors and service providers who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work. The categories of third parties we share personal information with are as follows:

  • Form and submission services. Waitlist submissions are received and stored on our behalf by Formspree.
  • Website hosting service providers. Our hosting provider processes traffic to the Services.

We may also need to share your personal information in the following situations:

  • Legal requirements. Where we are required to do so by law, or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
  • Business transfers. In connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not rent or trade it, and we do not share it with data brokers.

4. Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?

In Short: We use advertising measurement from social media platforms to count how many signups our ads produce.

We advertise the waitlist on social media platforms, and we permit those platforms to use tracking technologies (such as cookies and pixels) on the Services to measure how many registrations our advertising produces. These technologies may set cookies on your device and may report to the platform that a registration took place.

We do not send those platforms your email address, the state you live in, or your answers, and we do not use these technologies to tailor advertising to your interests. You can limit this tracking through your browser's cookie settings and through the ad settings offered by those platforms.

5. Is your information a medical record?

In Short: No. We are not your healthcare provider, and HIPAA does not apply to a waitlist signup.

Nothing you provide through the Services is a medical record. No clinician reviews waitlist submissions, no physician-patient relationship is created, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) does not apply to the information described in this notice. If we launch clinical services in future, information handled in that context will be covered by a separate notice.

6. How long do we keep your information?

In Short: Until we launch and contact you, or until you ask us to delete it.

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this notice. In practice that means until we open enrollment and contact you, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. If we decide not to proceed with the program, we will delete the waitlist.

7. Do we collect information from minors?

In Short: No, and we do not knowingly accept signups from anyone under 18.

The Services are intended for adults, and you must confirm that you are 18 or older to join the waitlist. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we learn that a registration came from someone under 18, we will delete it. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us at hello@tare.health.

8. What are your privacy rights?

In Short: You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will.

You may withdraw your consent and ask us to delete what we hold at any time by emailing hello@tare.health. You do not need to give a reason, and we will confirm once it is done.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection law, including the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to request that it be corrected, and to request a copy of it. Requests of this kind go to the same address.

9. Do we make updates to this notice?

In Short: Yes, and the date at the top will tell you when.

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by a revised date at the top of this page. If we make material changes and you are on our waitlist, we will notify you by email.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website at tare.health and any related services (the "Services"), operated by Tare Health Technologies Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"). By using the Services or joining our waitlist, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Services.

1. Our services

The Services are a pre-launch website. They describe a program we intend to offer and let you join a waitlist for it. We are not currently selling anything, and no medical service is provided through the Services. Nothing on the Services is an offer to sell, and using them does not create a contract between you and us.

The Services are intended for users in the United States. We make no representation that the Services are appropriate or available in other locations.

2. No medical advice

The content on the Services is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not medical advice, it is not a diagnosis, and it is not a substitute for professional medical judgment. No physician has reviewed your individual circumstances, and using the Services does not create a physician-patient relationship.

Always seek the advice of a qualified health provider with any questions you have about a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read on the Services. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call your doctor or emergency services immediately.

3. The PFAS exposure estimator

The exposure quiz on the Services estimates likely PFAS exposure based only on the answers you provide. It does not measure anything. It is not a blood test, not a laboratory result, and not a clinical assessment, and its output carries significant uncertainty.

A high estimate does not mean you have elevated PFAS levels, and a low estimate does not mean you do not. Only laboratory analysis of a blood sample can establish your actual levels. You should not make decisions about your health based on the estimator.

4. The waitlist

Joining the waitlist is free and creates no obligation for you or for us. It does not guarantee you a place in the program, a particular price, or a particular date.

We expect to open in some states before others and may limit the number of participants. We may modify, delay, suspend, or discontinue the program at any time. We may remove any registration, or close the waitlist, at our discretion.

5. Pricing information

Any prices shown on the Services reflect what we currently expect the program to cost when it launches. These prices are indicative only. They may change, and they are not a quotation or a binding offer. You are not charged anything for joining the waitlist. If enrollment opens and we offer you a place, the terms and prices that apply at that time will be presented to you, and you may accept or decline them.

6. User representations

By using the Services, you represent and warrant that: (1) you are at least 18 years old; (2) all information you submit is true, accurate, current, and complete; (3) the email address you provide belongs to you; and (4) your use of the Services will not violate any applicable law or regulation.

7. Prohibited activities

You may not access or use the Services for any purpose other than that for which we make them available. In particular, you agree not to:

  • submit false information, or another person's details
  • use the Services in any way that violates applicable law
  • interfere with, disrupt, or create an undue burden on the Services or the networks connected to them
  • attempt to bypass any security measure of the Services
  • use any automated system, including scripts or scrapers, to access the Services or to submit registrations in bulk

8. Intellectual property rights

Unless otherwise indicated, the Services and all content on them — including text, graphics, layout, and design — are owned by us or licensed to us. You may view the Services and link to them, and you may quote from them with attribution. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, or commercially exploit any part of the Services without our prior written permission.

9. Third-party websites and content

The Services contain links to third-party websites and cite third-party research. We do not control that content, we are not responsible for it, and inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement. Any dealings you have with third parties are solely between you and them.

10. Disclaimer

The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, in connection with the Services, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We make no warranty that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors, or that any information on them is accurate, complete, or current.

11. Limitations of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will we or our directors, employees, or agents be liable to you for any indirect, consequential, exemplary, incidental, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Services, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages. If those laws apply to you, some or all of the above disclaimers or limitations may not apply, and you may have additional rights.

12. Governing law

These Terms and your use of the Services are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

13. Modifications

We may change these Terms at any time. The revised version will be indicated by an updated date at the top of this page, and it takes effect as soon as it is posted. Your continued use of the Services after that point means you accept the changes.
